TTP Turbo Tower of Power (Kenner)

From the early 70s, this Kenner line of “stunt” motorcycles and cars powered by the “Turbo Tower of Power” or TTP produced some of the fastest and longest-flying jumps I remember. My TTP chopper (ridden by some bearded cool dude in sunglasses and a silver Nazi helmet) cleared my friend’s pool while his Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle took a bath each and every time.

No wonder… the TTP cycles were considerably smaller (probably half the Knievels or even smaller) and lighter. Throw in a very powerful propulsion system, and watch your friend’s jaw drop in amazement. Simply put the cycle or car on the TTP, start pumping like mad to produce one godawful loud turbo “whine,” flick the switch and — BOOM! — off it flies!

I don’t think the TTP toys were very successful, however (probably due to the Evel Knievels cornering the market on motorcycle stunt toys). Too bad, since the TTPs were incredibly fun, not to mention tough (can’t tell you how many walls I’ve slammed the chopper into… and survived).

Very hard-to-find too, it seems. Even on eBay — they do pop up on occasion, but not as frequently as the really popular toys. Hard even to find a good picture of the motorcycles to post here. I’ll keep a lookout and post them if I come across any.
